For Interior Designers & Architects
"A piece conceived for the room it will live in, drawn to its light, its proportions, and the life that surrounds it."
Bruno Boulay
Bruno Boulay works with interior designers, architects, developers and private client consultants to create individually commissioned games furniture for residential and hospitality interiors.
Each piece is developed in relation to the room, its architecture and the wider design scheme, allowing proportion, timber, cloth, leather, metalwork and detailing to be considered alongside the interior from the earliest stages of the commission.
The Approach
A games table can be one of the largest pieces of furniture within a room, making early consideration of proportion, placement and materials particularly important.
Bruno can join a project during the design stages, working alongside the interior designer or architect to resolve the furniture in relation to the architecture, joinery, lighting, flooring and wider material palette.
Drawings, material samples and relevant specification information can be shared with the project team, helping the commission develop as part of the wider interior rather than as an object introduced at the end.
Trade Support
Bruno works directly with design teams throughout a commission, providing the information, materials and coordination required to incorporate individually commissioned furniture into a wider interior project.
Bruno can work directly with the designer, architect and client throughout the commission, helping resolve the furniture alongside the wider interior scheme from initial concept through to installation.
Timber, cloth, leather and metal finishes can be reviewed as part of the specification process, helping the design team consider the furniture alongside the colours, textures and materials already established within the room.
Drawings and relevant technical information can be prepared to help designers and architects coordinate the furniture within the wider project.
Relevant dimensions, materials, finishes, access requirements and installation information can be shared with the project team as the commission develops.
Bruno works with the project team to understand the room, architecture, intended use and design direction before developing the furniture. Where appropriate, the client, designer and Bruno can review the commission together as the design develops.
Material samples can be reviewed during the design process, allowing timber, cloth, leather and metal finishes to be considered alongside the wider interior palette.
Timing
The earlier a games table is considered within an interior project, the easier it is to resolve proportion, placement, access, materials and the relationship with the surrounding furniture.
Bruno can work from early floor plans, elevations, room dimensions, material palettes and interior concepts to begin developing the commission before every detail of the room has been finalised.
Early involvement is particularly useful where the furniture needs to coordinate with:
The Collaboration
Share the room plans, dimensions, intended use and initial design direction. Bruno will discuss the project with the studio and, where appropriate, the client to understand the role the furniture needs to play within the interior.
Proportion, silhouette, materials, finishes and relevant technical requirements are developed in relation to the room. Drawings allow the studio to review the furniture alongside the wider design scheme.
Relevant material samples, drawings and specification information can be shared with the project team for review and coordination before the commission moves into the workshop.
Once the design is agreed, the commission moves into Bruno's Berkshire workshop. Delivery and installation are then coordinated with the project team and the requirements of the property.
Specification
Every commission is developed individually, allowing materials, proportions and detailing to be considered alongside the architecture and wider interior scheme.
American Black Walnut, European Oak and other appropriate timber and finish options can be considered in relation to the room, its light and the surrounding material palette. Read more about the materials available.
Cloth colour and appropriate playing specification can be coordinated with the timber, furniture and wider interior.
Leather, brass and other appropriate details can be selected as part of the overall material palette, allowing smaller elements of the furniture to relate to the surrounding interior.
Dimensions are developed in relation to the room, intended game, playing requirements and practical considerations such as circulation and installation access.
Where appropriate, individual detailing can be developed through timber, leather, resin, engraving, embossing and other elements of the furniture.
The Collections
Projects
Bruno's commissions can be developed for private residences, hotels, private clubs and carefully considered commercial interiors, with materials, detailing and installation requirements resolved around the demands of each project.
For corporate and hospitality projects, brand identity can also be incorporated discreetly into appropriate elements of the furniture where required.
For Your Project
You do not need a completed specification to begin a conversation. Where available, the following information can help Bruno understand the project:
Early-stage information is welcome. The design can develop as the wider interior progresses.
Questions
Yes. Floor plans, elevations, room dimensions and other relevant project drawings can help Bruno understand the architecture and develop the furniture in relation to the wider interior.
