Crafted as Furniture. Played as Games.
French cabinet maker Bruno Boulay creates one-of-a-kind pool tables, shuffleboards, and bar billiards tables from his Berkshire atelier. Each commission is individually designed to complement the architecture and character of your home, crafted from hand-selected hardwoods, and finished with traditional
cabinet-making techniques.
Every table is made exclusively for its owner, never repeated, never replicated.

The Philosophy
Bruno Boulay
A Bruno Boulay table is designed to earn its place within the home, to be read first as furniture and only second as a game. Each commission begins with proportion, material, grain and finish, long before it becomes a pool table, shuffleboard or bar billiards table.
The brief starts with the interior: the architecture, the natural light, the surrounding pieces and the atmosphere of the room. Where most tables are built for the game first, every commission reverses that order, so the finished piece settles into the space rather than announcing itself.
This is furniture design in the truest sense, with professional play engineered quietly within.

The Atelier
French-born cabinet maker Bruno Boulay has spent more than twenty years creating bespoke luxury furniture from his Berkshire atelier. Combining traditional French cabinet-making principles with modern precision, every commission is individually designed and made by hand.
His approach is deliberately personal. From selecting the timber and developing the proportions to hand-finishing the completed piece, Bruno remains involved throughout the making of every commission.

Materials
Every commission begins with materials chosen for their character, performance and ability to age beautifully. American Black Walnut, European Oak and other carefully selected hardwoods are paired with hand-finished brass, leather and premium playing cloth to create a palette unique to each commission.

Craftsmanship
Every Bruno Boulay table begins in the workshop, where traditional cabinet making meets modern precision. Each commission is handcrafted in Berkshire using carefully selected hardwoods and time-honoured techniques: mortise and tenon joinery, hand-fitted rails and hand-rubbed finishes.
The making is unhurried: timber is rested, joinery is cut and fitted by hand, and every detail is finished to the standard of fine furniture. The result combines the character and finish of fine cabinetry with the precision required for professional play.

The Standard
A small set of principles, applied
without compromise to every commission.
Every commission is handmade to order in our Berkshire atelier. No production line, no shortcuts.
Rooted in traditional European cabinet making, every piece is joined and finished by hand.
Each piece is designed first as interior furniture and only second as a games table. Proportion and finish set the standard before play.
Solid woods and natural hardwoods are hand selected for grain and character and carefully considered in relation to each commission. Chosen to become more beautiful with age.
Heirloom furniture, made to be lived with, played over and passed on for decades without compromise.
Process
Every Bruno Boulay commission follows the same quiet sequence, beginning with the room rather than the game. Private clients, interior designers and architects join the process at the same point, the brief.

We begin with a conversation about the room, the client and the way the table will be used. There is no obligation, and no catalogue to choose from. Only furniture, made to order.
Proportion, joinery and detail are drawn from the interior before any timber is cut. Drawings, materials and finishes are agreed with the client before the workshop begins, so nothing is left to chance.
The table takes shape in solid hardwood, built by a single craftsman in our Berkshire workshop. Every component is cut, joined and assembled to the agreed design.
Stains, lacquers and oil treatments are applied by hand. Brass and leather are worked to match the room and the wider interior scheme, until the finish feels inevitable.
Delivered and professionally installed, with the playing surface levelled and the cloth finished on site. The table is ready to be lived with, played over and passed on for generations.
